By Kristen Baird

It is only natural for businesses to take advantage of dashboards. After all, this is what is required of them so that they may project their revenue, performance, sales, and any other number-related data for their company. This is the primary function of the dashboards, after all. You can basically use it for your company.

You can take advantage of a number of templates when you make use of dashboards. The said templates should make it easier for you to make the dashboards into the number-projecting solution that you expect it to be. You better pick out the best business dashboard template that you can utilize for your report.

Speaking of graphs, you are bound to see a bunch of them when you use the dashboards. These visual aids help in making the audience see the progress or setback that the company is experiencing in one glass. No need to read through a series of text just to get an idea on what the numbers related to your company.

When you use the dashboards, there are a bunch of common graphs that you will usually see. These are the graphs that you will see when projecting numbers for performance, for sales, for stocks, for income, or for any other aspects of the company. Here are some of the common graphs that you will usually see in your templates.

Column chart. You can actually treat the column chart as your bread-and-butted in the reporting of your important data. Through the column chart, the audience will immediately have an idea on what you want to convey. The numbers are clearly visualized in the column chart. The longer the columns, the higher the numbers.

There is the bar chart as well. The bar chart has technically the same appearance as the column chart. There are some slight differences, though. For one, the bar chart is oriented horizontally. Most of the time, the bar chart is used so that one can have a visual display of the comparison of amounts or frequencies of occurrences of various data characteristics.

Line and point chart are being used frequently in the report these days as well. It is a common chart that appears whenever you need to show some data to your audience. As the name suggests, it basically consists of points and lines. The points are there to represent a series of data and lines connect them. You can visualize trends with this chart.

The pie and donut charts can be used in the said report too. You can easily divide the pie and donut chart according to sectors. If you do that, then you can illustrate the frequency and magnitude of your date. Every sector will have an area that is directly proportional to the data number that they represent.

Map charts are not rare, especially if you operate your company with locations all over the country or the globe. Thematic mapping variable are used in the map charts. Examples of these variables are number of customers, population, revenue, and such. They are represented in colors and other legends. These colors make it easy to see which area has which attribute.
