Pipeline inspection will help identify faults such as corrosion and leakages on water systems. The law requires that all activities regarding pipe assessment be done in accordance with regional code manual. In every state, there is a manual that defines the standards which are supposed to be observed during such assessments. Every stakeholder in this field should be conversant with all the rules contained in this manual so as to promote safety and guarantee quality services.

The procedures employed when undertaking scrutiny will depend on the structure of interest. For instance, when working on a refinery system, inspectors will major on internal corrosion and also erosion. When dealing with above grade mechanisms external corrosion will be of more concern. Before the examination takes off, the inspectors will collect details of a given system from its operators.

Many inspectors will not begin their work before they obtain details concerning time of construction of a system and its service history. They will find out the operating pressure and seek to know much concerning a leakage. As a client, you are supposed to serve them with information concerning earlier assessments and repairs as well as provide them with a copy of the system design if available.

The assessor will utilize his knowledge in determining areas likely to be attacked by intense erosion. In case of internal corrosion, ultrasonic equipment is used to determine the thickness. Depths of metal loss are measured using pit depth gauge where external deterioration is noted.

A connection that has just been completed must first go through examination before the client start using it. The officials executing the pipeline inspection will systematically assess your system to establish whether standard materials have been used in setting it up. Should they find any shortcoming, the system will fail the test and it should be corrected without which it will not be cleared for use.
